Initiative: Emergency Nutrition Response through Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM).
Countries: Ethiopia, South Sudan, Burundi, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Niger
Objective: Goal: Prevent child mortality due to acute malnutrition. Objectives: 1) Treat acute malnutrition (moderate/severe with/without medical complications) within the community and at lower level health facilities through out-patient programs and short in-patient stays using Ready to Use Therapeutic Food and Supplementary food; 2) Achieve high program coverage and impact through ongoing community level screening and follow up of malnourished children by community volunteers; 3) Build local capacity within communities and lower level health facilities on identification and treatment of child malnutrition; 4) Longer term prevention of child malnutrition through integrating CMAM with IYCF behaviour change communications and household food security interventions.

Initiative: “7-11” Mainstreaming: Mainstreaming of WVI Global Health & Nutrition Strategy “7-11” core interventions
Countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Mali, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Mauritania, Zambia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cambodia, Bangladesh, India, Laos, Sri Lanka
Objective: World Vision International Global Health and Nutrition Strategy is formulated to guide programming to contribute to MDGs 1, 4, 5, 6, with 7 core interventions focused on pregnant women and 11 core interventions on infants and young children. The 7-11 Mainstreaming Initiative is targeted at development sites funded by WVC, to provide support in planning, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation, so that the 7-11 core interventions are incorporated into overall program designs, detail implementation plans to guide day-to-day operations, and integrated with other sectoral projects such as food security and WASH.
